Along with being important in all sports branches, mental toughness is of particular importance in the fight sports, especially for the sport branches such as cycling where the athletes fight at a high level against himself, rival and nature. In this study, it is aimed to investigate the mental toughness of the cyclists particating in the Turkey Mountain Bike Championship where high level struggle is performed. In order to investigate the mental toughness of the cyclists the "Sport Mental Strength Scale" was applied to the athletes participated in the Mountain Bike Turkey Championship held in Rize between 19-20 July 2018. The data of 146 athletes who completely filled the scale were evaluated for the study. Turkish adaptation of the Mental Resilience Scale, which was analyzed for validity and reliability by Sheard et al. (2009), was performed by Altıntaş and Koruç (2016). The scale consists of three sub-dimensions and 14 questions in total. Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficients of the scale are; Confidence is 0.72, Continuity is 0.71 and Control is 0.66. Firstly, a normality test was applied to the data obtained from the scale. As a result of the normality test applied, T-test in binary group comparisons for data with normal distribution, One-way Anova Test in group comparisons of three or more; In the data without normal distribution, Mann Whitneu-U and Kruskal Wallis H test was applied. Data were tested at α = 0.05 significance level. The findings of the study showed that mountain bikers' mental endurance levels were influenced by age, sports, and gender. As a result, it is observed that cyclists' sense of self-confidence rises as their ages increases. It can be said that male cyclists are more controlled and comfortable under pressure and unexpected situations than females.
