Özet

Nowadays, plants have been accepted as a very important and indispensable ring of the city components. Native plants provide the best fit to the local environmental conditions. Trends of using native plant species are rapidly increasing in many countries around the world. On the contrary of this development in the world, in Turkey, the demand towards the increasing need of ornamental plants in each year are generally provided by exotic plants. Although, the oaks represent powerful and endurable roots and durable wood throughout history and at the same time, it has been used intensively in European and American cities; on the other hand, the oaks could not get the same identity as city tree in Turkey which is known as oak paradise until now. In this study, other potential areas where the oak species can be grown with similar to the same ecological conditions of its natural ones in Turkey were determined by using GIS. By taking into consideration the information obtained as a result of this study, from now on, the possibility of using the natural oak species in potential areas during the landscape designing has been come up. Thus, in the landscape designs, sustainable native planting designs can be carried out by way of using native plant materials without extra maintenance.
