In this study, it is aimed to help 8th-grade students to associate chemistry concepts with daily life
and to develop an effective based on prediction-observation-explanation to increase their interest
in the course. Case study method was used in this study. The sample of the research is composed
of 19 8th class students studying in a state school from Rize province. The Associating Chemistry
Knowledge with Daily Life Scale (ACKD) and Semi-Structured Interview and Reflective Diaries
were used as data collection tools in the research. The quantitative data was analyzed with SPSS
(Statistical Package for Social Sciences 22.0), the qualitative data was analyzed with descriptive,
and content analyzes. As a result of the study it has been determined that, the developed activities
have positive effects on the students' association of the chemistry concepts with daily life and
science lesson.
