Özet
Iron (Fe) deficiency is a major limiting factor for wheat yield and quality. Calcareous soils are naturally low in iron. Exogenous Fe can enhance wheat production and quality. This study aimed to assess iron nutrition in wheat cv. Punjab-2011 uses an integrated nano-organic approach combined with iron nanoparticles (Fe-NPs) to boost wheat growth, yield, photosynthetic pigments, and antioxidant defenses. Foliar spraying of Fe-NPs with nicotinic acid, tryptophan, and myo-inositol was tested on wheat plants to evaluate growth, yield, and physiological and biochemical parameters. The combined treatment significantly increased plant height, root and shoot fresh weight, leaf area, number of spikelets per spike, grains per spike, 100-grain weight, and yield per plant. Photosynthetic pigments (chlorophyll a, b, and total chlorophyll) also increased with these foliar treatments. Total amino acids, soluble proteins, and soluble sugars rose with the treatments. Enzymatic activities, such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and peroxidase (POD), also improved through the nano-organic approach. Among the applied treatments, the combination of Fe-NPs, nicotinic acid, tryptophan, and myo-inositol resulted in higher growth, yield, physiological indices, and biochemical insights by lessening oxidative stress. Moreover, nanoparticles exhibited as growth enhancers via nanocoated fertilizers and targeted delivery of agrochemicals. These findings highlight the potential of nano-organic strategies as sustainable methods for wheat yield and reduced oxidative stress.
