Abstract

Retaining walls are indispensable elements of structural engineering. Different types of retaining wall designs can be used especially in construction works on sloping lands. While deciding on the design; The building material to be used, foundation depth, wall height, ground condition and final design loads play a key role. The aim of this study is to compare the retaining walls  esigned at variable angles in the plan with each other. 3 sided 'U' shaped retaining wall at 90 degree angles, exposed to soil load, was analyzed. Then, a 5-sided retaining wall was obtained by chamfering the corners of the same retaining wall. Different combinations have been tried by increasing the chamfer length. Within the scope of the study, solutions were made for 5 different designs and the results were compared.
