Effects of Cutting Type and Duration Time on Rooting of Three Cherry Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus L.) Genotypes

Özet

Cherry laurel (Prunus laurocerasus) is a species in the genus Prunus that belongs to the Rosaceae family. This study was carried out to determine the rooting ratios of three cherry laurel genotypes, which are important for quality and productivity in growing areas of Turkey. For this aim, leaf-bud, hardwood, and hardwood with a main shoot cutting were placed into perlite as rooting media in a mist greenhouse of the Agricultural Faculty of Akdeniz University in March. Rooting ratio, root weight and root number were evaluated two different times, namely August and October. According to our results, the highest rooting rate was for Vaul variety cuttings. There were no statistically significant differences between the rooting ratios for Eleviska and Kiraz genotypes. The best rooting was also for hardwood with a main shoot cutting type for all varieties in terms of cutting types. There were no significant differences when the rooting rates were examined in terms of removal period of cuttings, including the rooting rates for the first (August 4) and second (October 27) period.
