Özet

The study was conducted to examine the relationship between the motivation levels and emotional intelligence levels of the preschool children in the ages of 60-72 months. The population of the study consists of the children in the ages of 60-72 months attending to the independent preschools and nursery classes of the public primary schools in the Ortahisar central district of the Trabzon province in the education year of 2017 to 2019. The sample of the study consists of the 300 children selected from the population by random cluster sampling formula. The data were obtained by the “General Information Form” developed by the researchers, “Motivation Scale for Preschool Children (DMQ18)” and “Sullivan Emotional Intelligence Scales”. As a result of the study, it was found that the children’s motivation levels differed by the variables including number of siblings, birth order, duration of preschool education and socioeconomic level (p<0.05); but did not differ by the variables of gender and family type (p>0.05). Furthermore, a positive and medium-level relationship was determined between the motivation levels and the emotional intelligence levels of the children.
