Özet

The aim of this work is to determine the optimum reaction conditions to obtain Turkish soybean oil methyl ester from soybean oil by basic catalyst transesterification reaction. For this purpose, the transesterification of soybean oil was studied using different quantities of potassium hydroxide. In the reactions, different reaction time and temperatures were used The optimum reaction yield was obtained by doing the experiment at 60 degrees C, using 13.0 g methanol, 0.5 g KOH and at 90 min of reaction time for 50.0 g of soybean oil. These reaction conditions were tried on other oils such as olive, corn and Turkish hazelnut oil. Fuel specifications and methyl ester composition of biodiesels obtained from hazelnut, olive, corn and soybean oils were determined and compared with the national standard TS-EN 14214,
