Koroid, retina ve sklera arasında yer alan vücudun en çok kanlanan dokularından biridir. Fotoreseptörlerin de bulunduğu
dış retina segmentlerinin oksijen ve besin ihtiyacı koroidden sağlanmaktadır. Bu görevlerinin yanında ışık absorbsiyonu,
termoregülasyon, retinanın pozisyonun sağlanmasında rol oynamaktadır.
Bu nedenle koroid tabakasını etkileyen herhangi bir pataloji retina ve retinal fonksiyonlarını bozabilmektedir.
The choroid is one of the body’s most bloody tissues, located between the retina and the sclera. The oxygen and nutrient needs of the outer retinal segments, including the photoreceptors, are provided by the choroid. In addition to these functions,
it plays a role in light absorption, thermoregulation, and positioning of the retina. Therefore, any pathology affecting the
choroid layer may impair retinal and retinal functions.
