DESALINATION AND WATER TREATMENT, cilt.324, ss.101369, 2025 (SCI-Expanded)
Present research shows the experimental investigation on hemispheric solar still (HSS ) with and without fins and a water-sprinkling technique. The objective of present research is to augment the distillate output of modified hemispherical solar still and compare with its conventional one. In the current experimental study, a hemispherical solar still was modified with attachments of different fins, applied water sprinkling technique, and its comparison was done without the hemispherical solar still. To minimise the heat losses and enhance the distillate output water sprinkling technique was used at different interval in modified still also. The experimental result observes that the total daily distillate productivity for HSS only and HSS + Fins + water sprinkling are severally 1.55 L/ m2 and 2.04 L/ m2. HSS with fins and water sprinkling provides 24 % more distillate output than HSS without fins. Moreover, the thermal efficiencies for HSS only HSS + Fins + sprinkling were 42% and 53.1 2%, respectively. From the economic analysis point of view, the water per litre (CPL ) cost for HSS only and HSS + Fins + water sprinkling were 0.01 3 $ and 0.01 8 $, respectively.
