Akarsu turizmi, doğal şartlarda gerçekleştirilen, çevreyle uyumlu ve destinasyonun doğal güzelliklerini ön plana çıkaran bir turizm çeşididir. Bu turizm içerisinde rafting sporu önemli bir yere sahiptir ve destinasyonun sürdürülebilirliğine katkısı olacağı düşünülmektedir. Bu amaçla, Türkiye’nin en önemli rafting parkurlarından biri olan Rize ili Fırtına Vadisi’nde gerçekleştirilen rafting faaliyetlerinin Porter’ın Elmas Modeli ile rekabetçilik analizi yapılmıştır. Araştırmada bölgede faaliyet gösteren rafting spor kulüpleri temsilcileri, seyahat acenteleri, rafting işletmeleri ve rafting federasyonu temsilcileri ile görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Yapılan bu görüşmeler sonucunda Fırtına Vadisi’nin rafting sporu açısından rekabet yapısının temel özellikleri belirlenmiş, elmas modeline aktarılmış ve rekabetçilik düzeyinin yüksek olduğu ortaya konmuştur.
River tourism is an environment-friendly tourism which is made in natural conditions and makes the natural beauties of destination visible. Rafting has an important position in this tourism type and it is thought that it will contribute to the sustainability of the destination. For this purpose, the rafting activities are analyzed according to Porter’s Diamond Model in Rize province, Fırtına Valley, one of the most important rafting tracks of Turkey. In this study, interviews with the representatives of rafting sports clubs in this region, travel agencies, rafting companies, the representatives of rafting federation and tourism academicians were made. According to the results of these interviews, the main features of competitive structure in terms of rafting sport of Fırtına Valley was determined, these features were transfered to Diamond Model and the competitive level of Fırtına Valley was defined as high.
