Özet

In this study, the relation between 7(th) grade elementary school students' problem posing and problem solving achievements was investigated. Correlation method was used in this study. The study was conducted to 144 students who are 7(th) grade from 3 elementary schools in Erzurum city. To determine 7(th) grade elementary school students' problem posing and problem solving achievements, Mathematical Achievement Test (MAT), composed of 10 questions, was developed. The reliability coefficient (Cronbach's alpha) of MAT was found to be 0.87. According to the results of the study, students were successful in solving questions, while there was a decrease in their problem posing achievements. In addition, MAT results revealed that students were inadequate and they experienced crucial difficulties in posing problems.
