Chemical tankers are a type of ship designed to carry different types of chemical cargo. Each
of the transported cargo has risks such as explosion, fire, pollution, spontaneous deterioration
of the cargo and damage to the ship's equipment. For this reason, the chemical tank crew
should have good knowledge and skills related to cargo. In this context, it is obvious that
creating risk models that can accurately predict cargo-related risks for crew will provide
significant benefits in preventing accidents. In this study, all risks of chemical cargoes were
determined by taking the opinions of the literature and expert. The relations between the
identified risks and their probabilities were evaluated quantitatively and qualitatively using
the Bayesian network method. In the test application of the network obtained, the risk levels
of cargoes with different properties, such as Fame, Slack wax, Benzene, Sulfuric acid and
Steyrene Monomer, were calculated relatively. As a result of the study, the network
infrastructure that contributes to increasing the awareness of the crew in chemical tankers
about the cargo has been obtained.
