This scoping review examines the challenges faced by transnational families in Europe during crises, focusing on discrimination, social protection mechanisms, and coping strategies. The review systematically maps existing literature from 2011 to 2023, identifying key themes and gaps. Through a comprehensive search of SCOPUS and Web of Science databases, 52 studies were selected for analysis. The findings highlight that transnational families experience significant discrimination based on race, gender, and socio-economic status, which impacts their access to essential services and social integration. Social protection mechanisms, though present, are often inadequate or inaccessible, pushing families to rely on informal networks and coping strategies, such as community support and legal recourse. These findings underscore the need for more inclusive policies that address the unique challenges of transnational families. The review also identifies research gaps, particularly the need for longitudinal studies and research in underrepresented regions. These insights contribute to a deeper understanding of transnational families' resilience and inform recommendations for future research and policy development.
