Abstract

As it known, our country has been on the big hazardous fault lines for centuries. For this reason, there have been many earthquakes in our country which have caused great amount of life and financial losses since the past. Today, the principle of classical earthquake resistant structure design is insufficient, because of the help of developing technologies, the seismic isolation methods which are also frequently used in our country are among the methods that can be applied safely in earthquake resistant structure design. Many studies on this method have been executed, also base-isolated structures have found place chapter 14 in Turkish Earthquake Code that have issued in 2018. In this study which was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of these methods in our new code; lead rubber bearing (LRB) have been placed between the columns and foundation of 12-storey hospital building, dynamic analysis have been conducted by using the 11 pairs earthquake records that have average moment magnitude 6,5. Also, site- specific spectrum has determined to TEC. Dynamic analysis method is linear time history analysis. As a result of this analysis; the relationship between story displacements, story accelerations and story shear forces of fixed supported building and seismic isolated building has been examined. Also, relative displacements of fixed supported building and seismic isolated building has been determined of TEC 2018.
