INTRODUCTION: It has been stated that immediate implantation not only provides biological advantages such as preserving the soft tissue profile and alveolar crest height and width, but also provides psychological advantages to patients due to the shortening of the treatment period(1-4). In this case, closure of implants with free gingival graft (FGG) along with immediate implantation is described.
CASE DESCRIPTION: It was learned that the 34-year-old male patient who applied to our clinic was systemically healthy. Following local anesthesia, the patient, whose teeth numbered 25 and 26 were extracted, had the implants applied in the same session. It was decided to apply FGG immediately after implantation in order to protect the soft tissues around the implant and even increase the keratinized gingival thickness. The graft was placed on the buccal and palatal sides of the flap opened for implant placement, covering the crest and implants. Adapted with 5.0 prolene suture. Stitches were removed 10 days later.
DISCUSSION: In this case, surgical procedures were performed at both hard tissue and soft tissue levels in a single session. In many recently published studies, FGG was applied around the implant(5, 6, 7). However, in these studies, FGG was applied to the buccal region. In our case, the graft was adapted onto the crest and implants.
CONCLUSION/CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: One of the criteria for implant success is correct soft tissue management. In our case, an area was created between the two edges of the flap, the chance of nutrition of the graft was increased, and the flap was closed without tension.
