The aim of this study is to examine the short and long-term effects of teacher guide material on the academic achievement of the students, which was prepared to teach the 5th grade human and environment unit entirely in out-of-school environments. The study was implemented with an experiment and two control groups. In the study in which sequential design was used within thescope of the mixed research approach, the pre-test-post-test equivalent control group model, which is among the quasi-experimental designs, was used to examine the effect of the application on the academic success of the students in the study group. After an achievement test was applied to all groups as a pre, post, and follow-up test, student worksheets, and student and parent interviews were used as the main qualitative data sources to explain the reasons for the difference in the experimental group. As a result of this research, the academic success of the experimental group students increased in a short time and their permanence was achieved in a long time. In this outcome, students' perceptions that out-of-school learning environments are exciting and interesting in terms of establishing a direct relationship with life and gaining the first-hand experience have been effective.
