Özet
Although there is no consensus on the diagnosis of piriformis syndrome, it can generally be defined as sciatic nerve compression by the piriformis muscle. Even though there is no specific maneuver for the diagnosis of piriformis syndrome, physical examination might be helpful in diagnostics. Apart from that, electrodiagnostic tests and alternative radiological imaging techniques can be utilized to diagnose piriformis syndrome. In terms of treatment, while conservative approaches are primary choices, alternative surgical methods can be utilized for patients who are unresponsive to conservative treatment and patients with persistent complaints.
