Coupled-channel and distorted-wave Born approximation analyses for 25.1 MeV and 32.5 MeV energies of p-Ar-40 inelastic scattering

Abstract

The optical model parameters, the coupled-channel parameters and excitation mode beta(2) , beta(3) and beta(5) deformation parameters corresponding to the best fit to the experimental differential cross-sections and the analyzing powers data for the p-Ar-40 elastic and inelastic scattering were determined. The ambiguity in the spin and parity of the 4.43 +/- 0.05 MeV state of Ar-40 was solved by the assignment of the 5(-) value for this state. Also, for the Ar-40 nucleus a first-degree vibrational model was found to be suitable.
