Özet
Pancreatic cancer is a malignant tumor that originates in the pancreas. The disease is often diagnosed at advanced stages due to nonspecific symptoms such as abdominal pain, weight loss, jaundice, and digestive difficulties, contributing to its generally poor prognosis. Treatment options depend on several factors, including the cancer’s stage, tumor location, and the patient’s overall health status. For localized and operable cases, surgery is typically the preferred option, with the Whipple procedure being the most common surgical approach. For inoperable cases, chemotherapy is often employed as a primary treatment to reduce tumor size, whereas in operable cases, it is utilized to eliminate residual cancer cells post-surgery. It may also be used concurrently with radiotherapy to enhance therapeutic effectiveness or to alleviate symptoms. Emerging treatments, such as targeted therapy and immunotherapy, are actively being researched with the aim of improving outcomes for specific patient subgroups. Comprehensive care, including palliative approaches for symptom management and support, plays a critical role in the overall treatment strategy for pancreatic cancer. Early detection remains crucial, as it significantly influences treatment outcomes.
