Abstract

Hypochondriasis is characterized by preoccupation of having serious physical illness. Most patients with hypochondriasis worry about physical diseases like cancers and cardiac diseases. However, little is known about this rare subtype of hypochondriasis. This paper presents, a case report of a 41-year-old man who was referred to psychiatry clinic from his otorhinolaryngologist after repeated evaluations for concerns of blockage in the ear, eustachian tube dysfunction, tinnitus and inability to breathe comfortably. We will discuss different subtypes of hypochondriasis, sociodemographic characteristics, history of the disease and related literature in the light of our findings.
