Özet

The relationship between humans and the environment has always been a concept among all civilizations from the time has started. But the recognition of the impossibility of protecting the environment without social and economic development is a product of 20th century and sports are not a part from this concept. Like all activities, sports have an impact on the environment and are also influenced by the environment. Modern Olympic Games is the first notion that occurs in mind when sports are said and directly related to the environment. So, Modern Olympic Games and International Olympic Committee can not be insensitive to that concept. In this study, the interactions between the Modern Olympic Games, International Olympic Committee practices and environment were examined. As a result, it was found out that the Modern Olympic Games and the International Olympic Committee are not independent of the environment and have essential practices to maintain a sustainable environment.
