In this study, besides revealing the relationship between mindfulness and mental well-being, it is aimed to examine the effect of participation in sports on mindfulness and mental well-being. For this purpose, 830 university students who studying at RTEU and Kırşehir Ahi Evran Universities participated in the study. The study was designed in the descriptive-relational survey model, which is often preferred in quantitative methods. The data collected within the scope of the study were obtained from the “Mindful Attention Awareness Scale” and the “Mental Well-Being Scale”. In addition, a demographic information form including sports-related variables was used. According to the study findings, it has been observed that the mindfulness and mental well-being levels of the students who do sports under license are significantly higher than those who do not do sports under license. Again, it was seen that the mindfulness and mental well-being levels of the students studying at the faculties of sports sciences were significantly higher than the students studying at other faculties. According to another finding of the study, it was observed that there was a significant relationship between mindfulness and mental well-being of university students, and it was seen that mindfulness affected mental well-being. As a result, it has been seen that mindfulness is a significant predictor of mental well-being in university students and that the variables related to sports make a difference on students’mindfulness and mental well-being levels.
