In this study, optical transmittance of ulexite and barite mineral doped polyethylene samples in
the wavelength range of 400 to 700 nm and linear absorption coefficients at energies of 5.9 to
59.54 keV are measured. Optical transmittance measurements of the samples are analysed on
the Molecular Devices SpectraMax M5 Spectrophotometer. The same samples are exposed to
photons from a radioactive source of 100 mCi 55Fe with 5.9 keV and 10 mCi 241Am with 59.54
keV. Photons passing through the samples are counted using the Ortec brand Si(Li) detector and
the multi-channel analyser connected to it. As a result, it is observed that the optical
transmittance values decreased with increasing additives. In addition, it is seen that the linear
absorption coefficients decreased with increasing energy and increased with increasing
contributions, respectively.
