The aim of this paper is to examine, with a multivariate approach, the latent structures that inherently determine socioeconomic development levels of provinces in Turkey. These structures are searched by the exploratory factor analysis which is the most appropriate among a number of statistical methods. The study is being implemented in two separate time frames by using indicators that are chosen from a large number of distinct fields, such as geographic, demographic, educational and cultural, health, employment, social security, financial, manufacturing industry, agriculture, export, energy, house and infrastructure. Those indicators are appropriate to internal assumptions of factor analysis.
