The purpose of this study; to develop a life design activity based on engineering design and to reveal the effect of this activity on students' academic success. The research group of the study consists of 3rd grade students studying in a public school in Ünye district of Ordu province in 2018-2019 academic year. In the study, descriptive case study method was adopted as the research method and the "Academic Achievement Test [ABT]" test and field notes were used as measurement tools. SPSS analysis method and descriptive analysis methods were used in the analysis of the data obtained. According to the findings obtained from the research, it was concluded that there was a significant change in the academic achievement scores of the students in favor of the posttest and that there was no significant difference between the male and female students as a result of the life design teaching based on engineering design. In addition, it was determined that the students successfully worked as a group in the design process and had fun. In this context, engineering design method application studies in life science education can be handled from a wider perspective and studies in this area can be done in social studies education, which has an interdisciplinary nature.
