In present study, the novel peripherally [3-methyl 5 oxo 4 (4 phenoxyphenyl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl] substituted Zn(II), Cu(II), Co(II) phthalocyanines were synthesized and characterized spectroscopically. The light absorption/emission behavior of the synthesized phthalocyanines were determined by UV-Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy. The fluorescence quantum yields of the novel phthalocyanine Zn(II) complex in different solvents were calculated. Besides, the urease inhibition activities of the novel compounds were investigated. All synthesized phthalocyanines have a superior inhibitory activity on urease enzyme, while novel phthalocyanines Cu(II) showed the best inhibitory effect against jack bean urease with IC(50 )values of 0.0035 +/- 0.0010 mu M.
