A research on the importance of Kumaşir lake from the viewpoint of natural environment and landscape, and protection strategies

Özet
Wetlands are important natural areas because of implementing correctly and sustainability of enviromental and ecological goods and services. On the other hand, wetlands are faced with danger of extinction because of enviromental pressures. In this study, Kumaşır Lake which is a important wetland in Kahramanmaraş (Turkey) was analyzed. Kumaşır Lake is out of protection although it has high ecological value and it is open to destruction by the enviromental pressures. Kumaşır Lake is 9 km from the city center. Kumaşır Lake has an important place in terms of bird species also provide a suitable environment to grow in a healthy way of various plant species. Around the lake it has found source of water in many places and they feed the lake water.So, its smell and taste is like drinking water and people who lives there and people who use the area for recreation drink the water. For the existance of fauna-flora and people who benefit from the lake it is necessary to ensure sustainable conservation plan for the lake. The necessary political, technical, administrative and legislative measures should be taken. In this research Kumaşır Lake’s ecological properties analyzed in terms of wildlife, plants and hydrological structure. And then enviromental pressures and pollution levels were analyzed. In the result of this research Kumaşır Lake’s flora is important for the wild life and hidrological features. Local people use the lake and surroundings fort he recreasyonal aims. But it causes of losing the Kumaşır Lake’s important functions. The intervention of the water regime and wastes are seen as serious threats.
