Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) of nine months (trial I) and 1.5 years (trial II) were reared in cages in the southern Black Sea to assess growth performance. The effects of stocking density and size of fish at transfer to sea water on growth were also examined. Initial mean weights were around 30 and 200 g and stocking densities were 660, 990, 1320 and 800, 1000, 1500 and 2000 fish per cages of 56 m(3) in trials I and II, respectively.
