Technological advancements have expanded remote work
opportunities, leading to the emergence of the “digital nomad” tourist profile
and a new tourism market. This study aims to evaluate Rize, Turkey, as a
potential destination for this profile. Using a qualitative case study design,
Turkish digital nomads interested in nature-based destinations were selected
through pur-posive sampling. Data were collected via face-to-face interviews
and participant observation during a six-day visit to Rize in June 2024, where
participants continued their regular work routines. The data were analyzed
using descriptive analysis tech-niques. Findings indicate that Rize holds
strong potential for digital nomad tourism. The study also contributes to the
concep-tual definition of the digital nomad tourist profile. Based on the
findings, destination-planning strategies to attract this kind of tourist are
recommended.
