Abstract

There are several studies about phthalocyanines containing resorcin[4]arene groups at literature. However, their heavy metal ion extraction properties are unknown. Therefore, the novel phthalocyanines containing tetra and octa resorcin[4]arene cavitands were synthesized and investigated extraction properties for some environmentaly important heavy metal ions. The structures were characterized by elemental analysis, H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR, UV/vis and FT-IR spectroscopy techniques. The extraction capacities were analyzed through liquid-liquid extraction method. The novel phthalocyanine compounds TP5ZnPc and TP6ZnPc seem to be proper for the removal of heavy metal cations.
