This study aims to evaluate the moral erosion expressed through dialogues in theatre texts from the perspectives of the sociology of religion and critical theory. By focusing on the importance of the concept of dialogue used in theatre, the study demonstrates how characters reveal their worlds of belief and values and their relationships with social norms through their dialogues. In the theoretical framework of the study, the concepts of “collective consciousness” and “anomie” developed by the French sociologist Émile Durkheim, as well as “modernity” and “secularization” discussed by the Austrian sociologist Peter L. Berger, are examined. In this context, particular attention is given to the importance of religion in social life and to the changes in social norms reflected in the dialogues expressed by theatre characters.

The study also presents examples of moral erosion, such as adultery, addictions, and generational conflicts, which are regarded as forms of deviation in collective social memory, by referring to theatre works by various authors. Through these examples, the study emphasizes that theatre dialogues are not merely elements that develop and reflect the plot. Rather, they are considered narrative tools that influence readers and audiences by shaping, changing, and transforming social values.
