Abstract

In the 15th and 16th century, The Ottoman State got benefit in a great extend from mines in Kratov, Kyustendil, Novaberde, Trepca and Jejene beside the mines in Samakov and Sidrekapsi in Balkans. In 17th century mines in Kratova, Kyustendil, Novaberde, Trepca and Jejene were managed by ministers inhabited in Skopje and given Vulcitrin region as barley field. After the Second Siege of Vienna, miners were distrupted and the systems of mines were aimed to regulation after Treaty of Karlowitz. In this study, in 1703 the person named Mehmed Agha, assigned for inspecting mines in the Skopje region, and the measures taken on his reports that sent to the central government are evaluated.
