Beyaz çayın karaciğer fibrozisi üzerindeki etkisinin araştırılması

Özet:

Liver fibrosis is the liver's healing response to chronic injury and represents a common way for all chronic liver diseases. Following liver injury, stellate cells, which are important mediators of the fibrogenic response, are activated and produce extracellular matrix that disrupts the liver structure. There is currently no effective treatment for hepatic fibrosis, which is an important cause of mortality and morbidity. In this study, an experimental liver fibrosis model was created with carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) in rats to investigate the effect of white tea on liver fibrosis. White tea was given as ad libitum with drinking water. On the other hand, the antioxidant activity of the white tea used was evaluated. Total phenolic substance content of white tea 34.9±1.1 mg GAE/g dry weight, total flavonoid substance amount 34.1±3.4 mg QE/g dry weight, copper ion reducing antioxidant capacity (CUPRAC) 1127.4±44.6 mg TE/g dry weight, ferric reducing agent the antioxidant power (FRAP) was found to be 54±4.7 mg TE/g dry weight, and the effective sample concentration required to scavenge 50% of the DPPH radical was 0.091±0.005 mg/mL. As a result of the study, although it was not statistically significant in the group given white tea, compared with the fibrosis group, it was found that the malondialdehyde (MDA) level in the liver tissues was lower, the glutathione (GSH) level was higher and the serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels were lower. However, liver tissue hydroxyproline levels were found to be significantly lower (p=0.001) in the white tea group. Histopathologically, it was found that the Liver Tissue Histopathological Damage Score (LHDS) and fibrosis scoring were significantly lower (p<0.001) in the white tea group. All these results suggest that white tea may slow the progression of liver fibrosis. However, we believe that more studies are needed on the use of white tea as a treatment for liver fibrosis.
