Assoc. Prof. VELİ SÜME

Biography

Veli Süme was born in Zile/Tokat. He completed his undergraduate degree at Gazi University, Department of Construction (infrastructure) in 1982, his master's degree (MSC) in 1992, and his doctorate (PhD) in 1996 at Karadeniz Technical University, Department of Civil Engineering, Hydraulics Main Department. Before Dr. Süme was appointed to the University, worked as a technician and construction engineer in Istanbul (Yapı Merkezi). In 1989, he was appointed to the Construction Department of Kara Deniz Technical University, Vocational School of Technical Sciences. Between 1996 and 2010, as a Dr. Lecturer continued his duty in the same department.  He was appointed in 2010 formerly named Rize University, now Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, at the Department of Civil Engineering,  Hydraulics main branch as an Assis. Prof. He has published 5 professional scientific books and has more than 100 national and international articles, declarations, and research. He works on hydraulics, Fluid mechanics, Coastal structures, Sea level changes, Coastal research, and Hydraulic energy production. He specializes especially in T-groins. He worked at Bolton School of Higher Education in England for 9 months and at Florida International University (FIU), Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering for 1 year as an academician. Dr. Süme serves as a referee and Editorial Board Member in International Refereed Engineering and Science Journals. He also serves as the founder, editorial board member, and editor of the "Turkish Journal of Hydraulic" journal, which is published internationally in Turkish and English. Currently, since 2018, he has been working as an Associate Professor at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University, Department of Civil Engineering. It educates undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students and carries out many research projects.

He is interested in Literature as a minor branch. He is a member of the "Writers Union of Türkiye". He has published poetry books titled "Wind Rose" and "Roses Blooming in Fire", his 3rd poetry book titled "Tear Falling into the Sea" and a novel titled "Halkalı Pide, Bir Devrin Romanı" are also in the process of being published.
