Assoc. Prof. EMRAH ATAR

Associate Professor Emrah Atar, born in 1989 in Bingöl, completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Elazığ. He graduated from Selçuk University with a degree in Public Administration in 2013. In 2017, he obtained a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago in the United States, and in 2020, he earned a PhD in Development Policy and Management from The University of Manchester in the United Kingdom. These educational pursuits were funded by the Republic of Turkey under the 1416 YLSY Law.

In 2023, Atar earned the title of Associate Professor and currently serves as the head of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, as well as the head of the Department of Urbanization and Environmental Issues at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University. He also holds the position of deputy director at the Climate Change and Environmental Issues Application and Research Center.

Academically, he has contributed to numerous national and international articles, books, book chapters, book reviews, conference presentations, opinion pieces, and projects. His research interests include politics, governance, migration, policy development and management, urban policy, urbanization, and environmental issues. Atar also serves as an editor and reviewer for journals such as the Journal of Academic Value Studies, Political Reflection, E-International Relations, the Journal of International Economics, Business and Politics, and the Journal of Interdisciplinary Food Studies.
